Research and Capabilities

Our work spans several areas — from core AI research to the dissemination and teaching that turn results into impact. In each, we combine research with applied engineering, and we evaluate, document, and benchmark what we build.

AI, Machine Learning & Data

We design, develop, fine-tune, validate, and deploy machine-learning models and software — including large language, multimodal, and generative models — and the synthetic data that trains them. Our emphasis is trustworthy, responsible, and explainable AI: model governance, energy-efficient (green) AI, and conformity assessment, audit, and certification against the EU AI Act and applicable national law. We also curate, annotate, integrate, and license datasets, and advise on data governance and Data-as-a-Service.

Cybersecurity & Resilience

We research, build, and evaluate systems for cybersecurity and cyber-resilience, with threat intelligence grounded in knowledge graphs and structured representations (STIX 2.1, MISP). We analyse emerging and hybrid threats, and work on countering foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) and disinformation. We engineer resilience for AI systems facing adversarial inputs, distribution drift, and operational stress.

HPC, Quantum & Advanced Computing

We train and fine-tune foundation and small language models on GPU clusters and build distributed pipelines for large-scale data processing. Our work spans high-performance, cloud, and edge computing, distributed systems, and digital twins — including providing compute resources and infrastructure as a service. We also research the quantum frontier: quantum computing and communications, and post-quantum cryptography.

Dissemination, Communication & Exploitation

We handle communication, dissemination, and exploitation (DEC) of project results — a work package many technical partners cannot staff in-house. This covers science communication and digital marketing, search- and generative-engine optimisation (SEO/GEO), content and community management, web platforms and portals, and the publication of articles, reports, and white papers.

Education & Training

We design and deliver training, workshops, webinars, hackathons, and scientific conferences — building AI literacy and transferring know-how to partners, public institutions, and the wider community. Education closes the loop: clients and collaborators gain the independence to understand, operate, and challenge the systems we build together.

Delivery, EU projects & consulting

From research to real-world impact

Beyond research, Core Ideas builds software products, SaaS, digital platforms, and APIs, with a focus on socially significant and regulated sectors such as security, healthcare, energy, education, and public administration. We are open to taking part in nationally and European-funded projects as a consortium partner, and to providing consulting in the areas above.

Bringing research, dissemination, and training together in one small team is unusual — and it is where Core Ideas aims to add value to a consortium.
